بحلول عام 2008 سجل السنافر 50 عاماً منذو ظهورهم لاول مره في عام 1958 من خلال القصص المصورهمخترع الشخصيات هو بيير كاليفورد الذي اصدر القصص بأسم ايموو
في لقاء تلفزيوني معه صرح ايموو بانه استعمل مصطلح السنافر عندما كان يتذكر كلمة ملح
توفي ايموو في عام 1992 لكن فريقاً من الرسامين استمر بأصدار القصص المصوره وحلقات كرتونيه وبمناسبة مرور 50 عاماً على وجود تلك الشخصيات تقرر اصدار فيلم ثلاثي الابعاد في نوفمبر 2008متبوعاً ب26 حلقه مدتها نصف ساعه تضاف الى مجموع الـ 272 حلقه التي تم انتاجها منذو ال1980 وحتى 1990
